Lovely and comfortable but not very tough

I wanted these leggings for a bit of extra warmth walking on the cliffs.

They are beautifully knitted and very easy to move in. The knitting is not too tight round the legs, so my legs could bend and move easily. Excellent for yoga. The waistband comes up high so they are warm and don't fall down. They are certainly warm and comfortable. I bought the "olive" and liked the colour too.

But...these are described on the website as "technical outdoor leggings" and "you can wear these leggings for running, hiking, yoga or just a walk on the cliffs". I tried them for hiking and a walk on the cliffs. They are not really suitable for outdoors in my view. The knitting caught on lichen and rough parts of stones, so that it pulled in places and a loose thread dangled. If I sat on a rough bench, the roughness of the wood abraded the material. This didn't affect their usefulness, but doesn't look good, and I thought would ultimately wear them out quickly.

They would be fine under waterproof trousers or other tough technical leggings so they are protected from snagging. But think of them like closely knitted woollen tights - the threads are liable to pull. Fine if you are walking over grass or in a town. Not so great for scrambling, brambles, pushing through undergrowth, brushing past shell-covered rocks, twigs, climbing lichen-covered granite, or sitting on rough wooden stiles.

Also, whereas they are warm indoors, they are not windproof.

I like them and will wear them for lounging…
